POSITION: Chief PilotThe Chief Pilot ensures safe, compliant, and efficient flight operations by managing pilot personnel, training, scheduling, and records. This role serves as the FAA liaison, upholds safety culture, and supports administrative, payroll, and budgeting functions within the Flight Operations department.
Our culture puts high value on in-person work arrangements. Our headquarters is located at the south end of Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage. This role will travel frequently to our outlying bases and will report to headquarters consistently, unless working at an outlying base.
RESPONSIBLITIES- Lead, supervise, and develop the pilot group; oversee hiring, retention, and assignment of pilots, including PIC and Lead Pilot appointments.
- Ensure all pilots are trained, current, and compliant with FAA regulations and company
- Collaborate with Standards and Training Managers on manuals and operational
- Maintain all required crew records, perform monthly audits, and keep aircraft manual libraries current.
- Investigate pilot-related incidents, accidents, and fatigue reports, ensuring corrective
- Establish duty hours and staffing levels to meet operational schedules while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Act as primary liaison between FAA Principal Operations Inspector (POI) on pilot personnel matters
- Process and approve pilot flight histories, crew logs, time records, and payroll; determine pilot compensation and submit personnel changes to HR/Payroll departments.

- Fulfill duties of the Director of Operations in their absence; delegate responsibilities to Assistant Chief Pilot when necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- In accordance with the requirements of 14 CFR Part 69 and Part 119.71(c):
119.71 (c) To serve as Chief Pilot under § 119.69(a) for a certificate holder conducting any operation for which the pilot in command is required to hold an airline transport pilot certificate a person must hold an airline transport pilot certificate with appropriate ratings and be qualified to serve as pilot in command in at least one aircraft used in the certificate holders operation and:
- In the case of a person becoming a Chief Pilot for the first time ever, have at least 3 years experience, within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135 of this chapter.
- In the case of a person with previous experience as a Chief Pilot, have at least 3 years experience as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135 of this chapter.
