Job Description

This entry-level Molding Technician role supports a manufacturing facility specializing in advanced composite materials. You will work hands-on with production equipment, assist senior technicians, and help ensure high-quality molded parts. The position is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoy a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You receive full training, work under close supervision, and have the opportunity to be considered for long-term hire based on performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with machine setup and operation for molding and composite manufacturing processes.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished products from molding and production equipment.
  • Follow detailed written and verbal instructions to complete assigned production tasks accurately and on time.
  • Monitor machines during operation, identify abnormal conditions, and promptly escalate issues to a lead or supervisor.
  • Use hand tools and shop equipment safely and correctly to support molding, assembly, and production activities.
  • Adjust or regulate machine settings such as pressure, temperature, and cure times under the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area to support smooth production flow.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall manufacturing and production operations.
  • Learn and follow established quality inspection standards for molded and composite parts.
  • Measure and visually inspect parts for defects using precision tools and gauges, with oversight from senior technicians.
  • Identify potential quality issues and communicate them to senior technicians or supervisors for further evaluation.
  • Follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety procedures at all times.
  • Properly dispose of hazardous waste in designated containers and areas according to safety guidelines.
  • Support and promote a clean, safe, and orderly work environment for yourself and your teammates.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in manufacturing, composites, or production preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and machinery.
  • Basic computer skills for accessing instructions and documenting work.
  • Ability to perform simple math and unit conversions; willingness to complete a math test during the interview process.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English accurately.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds and stand for extended periods during the shift.
  • Team-oriented communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience as a Molding Technician, Composite Technician, Production Technician, Machine Operator, Manufacturing Associate, or Manufacturing Assembler is beneficial.
  • Background in composite manufacturing, assembly production, or general assembly work is an advantage.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills to assist with basic equipment issues under supervision.
  • Interest in learning advanced composite manufacturing processes and quality inspection techniques.

Work Environment

You work in a manufacturing facility focused on advanced composite materials, operating in a fast-paced and highly collaborative production environment. The role involves hands-on work with molding machines, shop equipment, and hand tools, as well as the use of precision measuring instruments for quality inspection. You spend most of your shift standing, moving materials, and handling parts, with regular lifting of up to 55 pounds. The facility follows strict safety and PPE requirements, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste, and emphasizes cleanliness and organization on the production floor. Day shift runs from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and swing shift operates Monday through Friday with a shift differential; openings are currently available on both shifts. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to meet production needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.15/hr.
