Position Summary
The Lead Technician Maintenance reports to the immediate Maintenance Supervisor and carries out assigned duties using JetBlue Airways procedures. The Lead Technician is a working member of the Technicians group, who at the direction of the Supervisor assists in the performance of Supervisor duties.
Essential Responsibilities
Assign and direct the work of Maintenance Technicians based on scheduled and unscheduled workloads
Determine if work performed adheres to company policies, publications, or other appropriate authority
Check the aircraft maintenance log when assigned to meet aircraft and takes any actions required to respond to discrepancies entered
Provide Maintenance Control with information on the mechanical status of aircraft
Complete required paperwork accurately using procedures set forth in the General Maintenance Manual (GMM)
Ensure use of only approved and certified hardware, parts, and equipment to be installed or used on aircraft and verifies calibration period has not been exceeded for work that requires calibrated tools or equipment
Conduct crew briefings
Occasionally acts as Supervisor when Supervisor is off duty, on Paid Time Off (PTO), or away from the BlueCity
Assist in performing routine and non-routine maintenance on aircraft
Other duties as assigned
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
One (1) year as a JetBlue Technician; OR one (1) year of Airline industry experience in leading and directing maintenance technicians
Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
Ability to communication effectively; in both oral and written communication
Ability to crawl, bend, kneel, climb, and stoop frequently in confined spaces
Able to drive tugs, trucks, taxi aircraft or other company equipment
Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
Ability to remain alert to moving vehicles and aircraft
Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways’ insurance standards
Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
Willing to work variable hours, including weekends and irregular shifts
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Five (5) years’ experience working Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s) Part 121 aircraft or military
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and the Internet
Strong leadership abilities
Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a dynamic environment
Ability to think creatively

Regular attendance and punctuality
Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Equipment:
Computer and other office equipment
Aircraft and component inspection and test equipment as required
Operate lift trucks, snorkel lift, boom lift and tractor after attending training
Issued reflective safety vest and ear protection
Ability to use handheld two-way radios, headsets and/or phone
Personal tools – minimum required tool list
Work Environment:
Work may be outdoors with seasonal weather
Bids work schedule by seniority (days, swings, or midnight shift, holidays)
Travel may be required
Ability to work in elevated areas
Physical Effort:
Position requires extremely strenuous physical work involving objects in excess of seventy (70) to one hundred (100) pounds. (Very Heavy)
