JOB TITLE: Purchasing Agent
DEPARTMENT: Materials
REPORTS TO: Materials Manager
LOCATION: Ypsilanti, MI - YIP
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
· Coordinate procurement and expediting of aircraft parts and materials to ensure timely availability for line maintenance and heavy maintenance checks.
· Perform routine procurement and expediting of materials to support stock replenishment activities.
· Monitor and enforce compliance with established purchasing approval policies and procedures in alignment with Kalitta Air’s General Maintenance Manual.
· Confirm that all part providers are either on the Approved Maintenance Provider List or have received one-time approval from the Kalitta Air Quality Assurance Department before procurement.
· Solicit multiple quotes for materials and services when available and accurately document all quotations in the company’s procurement database.
· Collaborate with the Repairs Department and multiple stockrooms to address and resolve current inventory shortages for aircraft on station.
· Monitor and fulfill backshop and stockroom inventory needs according to min/max thresholds and supply requisitions
· Communicate inventory shortages, long lead times, and other procurement issues to Maintenance and Materials Management to proactively address potential work stoppages during checks
· Perform any other duties assigned by the Materials Manager.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate; some college and/or technical school desirable.
Aviation experience preferred w/ background in navigating and using Inventory Management databases. Microsoft Office experience is required, including Excel, Outlook and Word. Proficient communication skills is a must.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to create / write routine reports and correspondence.
