Software Engineer - Platform
Job Description:
Job Purpose

Responsible for designing, building, and operating production-grade platform infrastructure, container orchestration environments, and CI/CD systems that power the organization’s engineering and AI delivery capabilities. The incumbent works closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure platform services are reliable, secure, and performant — forming the foundation that scales the organization’s engineering capabilities from discrete deployments into a cohesive, enterprise-grade cloud-native platform.

Key Result Responsibilities

Platform Infrastructure & Container Orchestration

  • Design, deploy, and operate production-grade Kubernetes clusters (OKE), container workloads, and service mesh environments.
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code, Helm-based deployment patterns, and configuration management for scalable, reproducible platform environments.

CI/CD Automation & Delivery Pipelines

  • Build and maintain containerized CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Bitbucket, and GitOps practices to enable reliable, automated delivery across engineering teams.
  • Automate provisioning, deployment, and configuration workflows using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting to enable end -to-end platform automation.

Observability & Reliability Engineering

  • Build and operate monitoring, logging, and alerting stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) enabling engineering teams to detect, diagnose, and resolve production issues effectively.
Key Result Responsibilities-Continued

Platform Security & Compliance

  • Ensure platform services meet production standards for availability, performance, scalability, and security.
  • Establish container security scanning, policy enforcement, and vulnerability management practices for continuous compliance and improvement.

Collaboration & Engineering Excellence

  • Work closely with engineers and operations teams to translate requirements into scalable platform capabilities.
  • Champion platform best practices, contribute through design reviews and runbook documentation, and drive continuous improvement of engineering tooling.
Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and shell scripting for automation and tooling
  • Strong understanding of Helm, Kubernetes manifests, and cloud-native packaging patterns
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio) and traffic management concepts
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins (preferably Kubernetes-based) and Bitbucket/Git workflows
  • Knowledge of security and quality practices: Trivy, SonarQube, OPA/Gatekeeper, RBAC, IAM
  • Familiarity with backend services and APIs (REST/gRPC), including Java/Spring Boot or FastAPI
  • Understanding of PostgreSQL (backup, replication) and caching/streaming tools like Redis and Kafka
  • Knowledge of platform engineering practices: SLO/SLI, incident response, reliability, and compliance
  • Familiarity with API gateways, load balancing (HAProxy), and traffic routing fundamentals
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with focus on system performance and reliability
  • Strong understanding of observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Fluentd, Kibana
Work Experience
  • With 2-4 years of hands-on experience building and operating production grade cloud-native platforms.
  • Cloud certifications (OCI, AWS, or equivalent) and Kubernetes certifications such as CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) or CKS (Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist) will be considered a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux/Ubuntu environments and container troubleshooting
  • Production experience with Kubernetes (preferably OKE) and Docker workloads
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and configuration management with Ansible
  • Experience implementing multi-environment deployments (dev/staging/prod) and GitOps practices
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and core cloud services
