About Green Taxi Aerospace:
Green Taxi Aerospace, Inc. is transforming ground operations for airlines by developing the Zero Engine Taxi system, an electric taxi (eTaxi) solution that allows commercial aircraft push back and taxi under their own electrical power without running the main engines saving 60,000 of fuel per aircraft annually. The system installs on the main landing gear, powered by the aircraft auxiliary power unit, to deliver meaningful fuel savings, lower emissions, reduced engine and brake wear, and quieter, safer ramp operations. We are a small, fast-moving team working directly with airlines, OEMs, and the FAA to bring this technology to market.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the mechanical and electromechanical design of the eTaxi system and its integration onto various aircraft models beginning with the Embraer E-175. This is a senior, in office, hands-on role with broad ownership across the full design lifecycle, from concept through certification and into production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the design of eTaxi electromechanical hardware, including drive units, actuation, gearing, structural brackets, mounting interfaces, and the integration of high-voltage power electronics, cabling, and connectors onto the airframe and landing gear.
- Produce and manage detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings in CAD (CATIA, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX), applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Perform and review engineering analysis (hand calculations, FEA, tolerance stack-ups, weight, and structural margins) to validate designs against requirements.
- Lead and document design reviews, trade studies, and requirements definition for assigned subsystems.
- Define and oversee component qualification and environmental testing to standards such as RTCA DO-160, and support integrated rig and on-aircraft testing.
- Work cross-functionally with electrical, software, and systems engineers to develop a fully integrated drive and control system.
- Support the certification effort, including Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) and type design data, coordinating with FAA representatives and Designated Engineering Representatives across structures, electrical, software, and flight operations.
- Manage technical interfaces with suppliers and contract manufacturers, including design for manufacturability, first article inspection, and resolution of production issues.
- Maintain engineering documentation, configuration control, and traceability consistent with AS9100 quality requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and help shape engineering processes and standards as the team grows.
- Transition into the Director of Engineering role over time.
