Maintenance Engineer

• Location: Stevenage
• Rates: 29.80 PAYE / 40 Umbrella
• Type: 12-month contract (likely to be extended)
• 37hrs/week, full time onsite presence rquired 

Morson is currently recruiting an experienced Maintenance Engineer on behalf of our defence client at their Stevenage site. This role offers the chance to work within a high-performing Calibration & Maintenance team, supporting vital operations and ensuring essential process and environmental test equipment remains fully operational.

• Delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of process and environmental stress screening equipment.

• Diagnosing and repairing faults down to component level, using technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools.

• Providing support and guidance to operators, ensuring smooth equipment operation.

• Managing spares packages, keeping maintenance records up to date, and coordinating with external contractors to reduce downtime.

• Occasionally mentoring junior engineers and sharing expertise across the team.

✔ HNC (or higher) in a relevant engineering subject.
✔ Proven track record in preventative and reactive maintenance, ideally in an electronic manufacturing or defence/aerospace environment.
✔ Knowledge of process equipment, environmental chambers, vibration shakers, or CCA (Circuit Card Assembly) manufacture (desirable).
✔ Strong analytical and fault-finding skills with the ability to work across multiple priorities.
✔ Physically capable — this role can involve accessing equipment in confined spaces.
✔ SAP knowledge would be an advantage.
