Job Summary
The Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer, Senior is responsible for leading the planning, design, and installation of Flight Test Instrumentation and telemetry systems. This role involves overseeing requirements, system design. Managing the procurement, installation, and calibrations of the instrumentation systems and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the instrumentation requirements. This position is expected to provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and play a critical role in high-stakes, complex testing environments. This roll will also provide FTE support planning, testing, conducting, and analyzing flight testing as time permits.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Lead the development, design, installation, calibration, and maintenance, and documentation of comprehensive flight test instrumentation systems.
- Coordinate with various engineering groups to define required instrumentation sensors measurement range, accuracy, and resolution
- Manage telemetry ground station equipment and operation.
- Create and release instrumentation drawings, schematics, and workorders.
- Manage groups video recording capability.
- Post-process flight test data.
- Maintain calibration records for installed instrumentation.
- Mentor and guide junior flight test instrumentation engineers, providing technical advice, best practices, and oversight on complex tasks.
- Identify and execute instrumentation improvement initiatives.
- Assist with Flight Test Engineering functions on a time available basis.
Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4 -7 years of experience in test instrumentation, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
- Expertise in data acquisition, real-time telemetry, and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with KAM500, CSM, Lumistar, and IADS instrumentation systems/software.
