Advanced Systems Engineer (Aerospace)
We have an opportunity for an Advanced Systems Engineer (Aerospace) to join us at Honeywell, in Yeovil, where you will be responsible for technology development, from initial concepts up to prototypes and flight demonstrators – progressing technologies of the future through the TRLs.
You will work closely with the rest of the team on major R&D projects mostly but not limited to: electro-mechanical systems, avionics & controls systems as well as air & thermal systems of next-gen sustainable aircraft powered by Hydrogen Fuel Cell, Hydrogen Gas Turbines or Hybrid Systems. You are expected to define trade-off analyses, system modelling and simulations, and performance assessment for integrated power electronics subsystems, batteries and motors.
This is a hybrid role, 3 days at the office + 2 days work from home model, with around 10-20 travel within the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, development and analysis in an area of aircraft controls sub-systems for thermal management, electro-mechanical systems, power electronics, batteries, motor cooling, avionics etc
- Close collaboration with subject matter experts on architecture definition, systems, and component engineering, providing system level guidance, defining the trade-off studies and participation on system modelling and analyses.
- Definition and planning of system development & sub-systems and components breakdown.
- Close collaboration with project managers and other departments supporting
- Performing functional hazard assessment, system safety assessment, common cause analyses.
- Supervising preparation of Validation and Verification plans & DoEs.
- Participation on preparation of system test statements of work.
- Preparing tasks for colleagues and integrate their results into your system development.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in relevant engineering domain
- 2-5 years of multidisciplinary engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience with aircraft systems architecture & analysis at all levels
- Aerospace experience on concept definition & development
- Good CAD skills
