We are seeking a talented IP Strategy & Protection Specialist to join our team to support the Boeing Businesses in the region. The successful candidate will work with the business and technology leaders to ensure the Boeing Company is capturing, protecting, and enabling our patent portfolio and trade secrets.
A key element of this role is successful and positive collaboration with multiple functions including Boeing Intellectual Property (BIP) leadership, the Law Department, Global Compliance, Engineering, and Business Unit Leaders.
This position will be hired initially on a 2-years fixed term contract with the opportunity to convert to an open-ended contract, subject to individual performance or businesss needs.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Serving as the central point of contact for regional IP rights, enquiries and advice
- Providing strategic IP support to advance current and future business objectives
- Leading invention disclosure harvesting and encouraging invention disclosure submission. Capturing and recording existing IP. Review invention submissions for completeness.
- Developing and conducting general and country specific IP training to strengthen IP awareness.
- Advising the business on existing processes and tools for managing IP
- Working with the businesses to ensure understanding of and compliance with Boeing’s IP strategy and policies
- Monitoring and coordinating regional changes in IP regulations and practices
- Working with the Law Department and IP Counsel to resolve IP issues
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Experience in multiple areas including strategy development and execution, intellectual property, law, business, engineering
- Familiarity with technologies pertinent to aerospace
- Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking
- Outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on multiple work items and balance priorities whilst delivering to strict deadlines
- Ability to manage complex projects and a large volume of matters, meet deadlines, and prioritize as needed
- Qualified candidate must have a global mindset and participate in U.S. based team meetings
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree
- Education or experience in Intellectual Property (IP), including development of IP policies, procedures, and processes
- Fluent in both written and spoken English and Korean
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- Advanced degree (Master’s, Ph.D., J.D., or equivalent)
- Advanced IP education or extensive experience
- Licensed IP Attorney, Patent Attorney, or Korea Patent Attorney
- Experience in software development and/or background in computer science
