Role title
Communications Specialist
Your role
This is a 12-month FTC within the Communications Team at Aer Lingus.
This role is part of the external communications team and will have a strong focus on consumer PR and customer communications, while also supporting on corporate PR for key projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports the busy external communications team by managing the press inbox (immediately assessing and escalating urgent queries) and drafting initial media responses, liaising with other teams internally as required
- Executes day to day work associated with various marketing, sponsorship and promotional campaigns, working with colleagues across Aer Lingus to deliver on key projects
- Supports team administration and KPI reporting to the Executive, budget management and flight support requests
- Organises and attends photocalls, develops photography briefs
- Writing for various formats – press releases, video scripts, speeches, captions and presentations
- Project manages mid-size PR campaigns such as new route launches
- Supports corporate communications projects such as financial results reporting
- Contributes ideas and shows interest in current affairs / consumer trends / hot topics to identify opportunities for Aer Lingus
Your qualifications and key criteria
- The candidate should have 5+ years of relevant experience either in-house or in agency in external communications and PR.
- Critical for the role is experience in strategic business writing for PR / media – writing statements, articles, research briefs, press release etc., a comprehensive understanding of media and good judgment in evaluating (1) responses to a breadth of airline/aviation related media queries and (2) opportunities for PR stories, while in parallel assessing any related risks.
- The candidate must be a good team player and have willingness to learn and support other areas of the communications team such as internal communications as required.
- Ideally the candidate should be very ‘media and social media aware’ and have experience working within or as an advisor to a large / complex / fast-paced organisation.
